Tasting Notes
Bold, full-bodied and packed with power, this Durif is not for the faint-hearted. Aged for 2 years in the finest oak and then another 2 in the bottle, it’s a true Durif, from the renowned north-east Victorian region. The nose bursts with rich dark plum, cherry fruit and lifted notes of black pepper, cloves and seamless spicy oak. On the palate, you’ll find spicy plum sauce and mulberry, and a surprisingly subtle finish. If you’re into big Barossa reds, this is your new favourite.
Wine snobs will love...
The layers of tannins, the oak coming through and the intensity that hits just right. This is one for the serious red drinkers – the ones who crave a wine that will finally activate their palettes.
New drinkers will love...
Nothing. Sorry! This one’s not for newbies. It’s designed for seasoned wine drinkers who want something that packs a punch. This wine will have a novice drinker on the floor after half a glass, which is NOT a posh look.
If you’re feeling left out, just mention the ‘elegant tannins’ and watch them nod in approval.
When to drink it
On a freezing cold day with a steak or rich, hearty dinner, or when you’re curled up in front of the fire, feeling a bit dramatic. Either way, this wine is designed for those cosy moments where you want to sip something strong.
To sound posh, say:
"Now that’s a true Durif!"
